David
specializes in brand building, marketing and corporate communications.
He
is CEO of Upstream Asia, named "New Consultancy of the Year
2001" by PR Week Asia magazine, a marketing and media
firm headquartered in Hong Kong, with offices in Singapore and Taiwan,
and affiliates throughout the region. The company begins its involvement
with clients further "Upstream" in the decision making
process than is usual for communications agencies, and helps identify
the right marketing strategy to reach marketing goals, and then
project-manages the campaign to its conclusion.
Before
founding Upstream Asia in 2000, he was senior vice president, marketing
and communications of Calvin Klein, Inc, with responsibility for
marketing, advertising, retail promotions and public relations in
Asia Pacific.
He
first came to the region in 1991 as vice president, Greater China
director of marketing for the public relations company Burson-Marsteller
based in Hong Kong. In 1994 he moved to Seoul to head up Burson-Marsteller's
office in Korea.
David
has provided strategic counsel and managed corporate/marketing campaigns
for such companies as AT&T,
eBay, Citibank,
CNN, General
Motors, Intel, Microsoft,
New Balance, Nielsen//Netratings,
Nortel Networks and
Sun Microsystems.
Before coming to Asia, he held positions of increasing responsibility
with Hill & Knowlton in New York and London. David began his
career with Cunningham & Walsh Advertising in New York. He is
a graduate of Haverford College (BA Hons) and Milton Academy in
the US.
David is the Chairman of the Asia
Digital Marketing Association and a founder member of the Council
of Public Relations Firms in Hong Kong.
